We are now accepting registrations for Parents Orientation!

Parent Orientation sessions for 2011 are now closed.

Welcome Parents!

Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to the University of Nebraska at Omaha!

Parent Orientation is more than just another campus tour. Even if you are already familiar with UNO’s campus, Parent Orientation will help you get acquainted with the academic programs and special services offered to your student and will address questions you may have. It will also offer insights into the adjustments your new college student and you will face during the next few years.

Parent Orientation sessions are optional and take place during the same dates and times as New Student Orientation. Students and Parents must register for their Orientation programs separately.

The fee to attend Parent Orientation is $30 per person and is non-refundable. Though all family members are welcome, the cost is the same for anyone who attends and there are no specific on-campus activities for children.

Para adquirir información y registrarse para la Orientación para Familias en Español en Julio 16, por favor comuníquese con Lina Traslaviña al 402-554-3577.

FAQ

Is there a fee to attend Parents Orientation? What does the fee cover?

The fee is $30 per person, and is non-refundable. If you need to change the date of your Orientation session, that can be done at no charge. The program fee directly offsets the costs associated with the program including space, staffing, meals, beverages, and materials. The Parent Orientation program is self-supporting and receives no funding from either the University or the state.

Do I have to attend Orientation on the same day as my student?

We believe the shared experiences you will have by attending Orientation on the same date as your student is very valuable. We encourage you to try to make arrangements to be here with your student on the same day. If you are unable to attend on the same date, then you can attend a Parent Orientation anytime during the summer.

Will I see my student during Orientation?

Students and Parents will be together at the beginning of the day, can meet up again during lunch if they choose, and will reconnect at the close of the program.

How do I register for a session?

Click here to start your registration for parents orientation. You can pay the Orientation fee with a credit card securely through PayPal. If you prefer, you can complete the reservation online and then send in a check made out to UNO. Please include on a separate sheet the names of attendees to Parent Orientation, phone number, and the session date. All payments must be received at least one week prior to the event or your reservation may be cancelled. Please mail the payment and information to:

My student is registering for classes with an academic advisor during Orientation. Can I attend my student’s advising session?

Parents are unable to attend their student’s academic advising session. We encourage parents to discuss course selection with their students. If needed, students can make changes to their schedules at any point after advising is completed, although it is strongly recommended that your student talk with an advisor first prior to making changes to his or her schedule.
